New discovery of hydrogen
In 1766, a man named Henry Cavendish made an incredible discovery about the element hydrogen. He was the first person to investigate this certain gas. He found out that it was less dense than air itself. (Grun 355) -

The Boston Massacre was a day when Patriots lined up across from British soldiers on Kings Street in Boston, Massachusetts. The soldiers heard a command from an unknown voive and shot into the angry crowd, killing 5 people.

Recieved bachelor of law degree
In 1769 Robespierre recieved a scholarship to Louis-le-Grand in Paris where he found how much he enjoyed philosophy and law. A bachelor of law degree is just what it sounds like, a degree in the studies of law.

Chosen as representative
He was chosen to be the 5th of of 8 deputies from Artois. He was chosen by the Third Estate which is made up of almost all of the French people at the time. This was a significant event for Robespierre because it was the
very beginning of his political career at 30 years old.

Appointed leader of Jacobin Club
The Jacobins was a group of politicians who were the most prominent during the French Revolution. Robespierre influenced many ideasd for their club.

Term as Legislator ends
On this day Robespierre was no longer part of the Legislative Assembly because he excluded himself from it. He still, however, was apart of the Jacobins Club.

Spoke 11 times at King's trial
Many people did not want King Louis XVI as their leader anymore because of his terrible job of being a king. The National Convention called for his trial for he had been accused for 33 crimes. At his trial, Robespierre spoke and was an important reason for the execution of the king because of his convincing points. Louis died on January 21, 1793.

The Board of Agriculture was established in Britain in the year 1793. The Board of Agriculture is a department for agriculture and food production and safety. This is still around now, but the new title for it is "Ministry of Agriculture, Fishiries and Food.

Called on commoners to revolt
On June 2, Robespierre called on people in the 3rd estate to revolt at the National Convention.
This was significant because he had enough control over the people to get them to do this. It showed that there was a start to a revolution for him. (Corzine 87) -
Became leader of the Commitee of Public Safety
On this day, Robespierre took Danton's place as president of the Commitee of Public Safety after his execution. The Commitee of Public Safety was known as a war council and helped from one individual from gaining too much power. (Corzine 89) Robespierre becoming president of this commitee was important because it was one of the biggest boosts of popularity he had to gotten so far and he just became so well known throughout France because of this. -
New Religion?
Robespierre was not only very into politics, but he was also very much fascinated in philosophy. He was most inspired by Jean-Jacques Rousseau, another famous philosopher. In May of 1794, he tried to get the National Convention to make a new offical religion called "the cult of the Supreme Being". This was a significant time in his life because it showed his philosophical views when people mostly saw him as a politic.

Day of Death
Maximilien-François-Marie-Isidore de Robespierre died on July 28, 1794. He was arrested at a meeting for the National Convention by members who turned on him. He shot himself in the jaw and was then executed by the guillotine, all on the same day. (Corzine 101)
This was such an important day because it ended the execution of many people. It also was the day that ended the French Revolution/Reign of Terror.
