texas was a part of Mexico and agreed to let American settlers come to Texas. they were forced to follow the roman catholic church though most Americans were not loyal to the church. mexico banned settlers from coming in because they thought America would want to take over. many Americans dod not follow the rules so they sent troops. santa anna became in power and ripped up the Mexican constitution. -
