  • Teacher Survey-MakerSpaces

    send out a google form survey to teachers to find out how many teachers know about Makerspaces and their comfort level for students to engage in an inquiry student-driven lesson.
  • District and School Support of MakerSpaces

    With the school site and district contact, create a plan to fund and implement MakerSpaces in the classroom. Funding would cover the PD for the teachers and supplies.
    As part of the plan, the measurable goals for student success can be linked to the utilization of the 4Cs; Collaborate, Communicate, Create, and Critical Thinking. These 21st century skills are used across the disciplines and they link the learning together.

  • Develop a list of teachers that are interested in learning about MakerSpaces

    from the survey, contact teachers that indicated an interest in learning and utilizing MakerSpaces in their classroom, or library ;)
  • Secure training sessions dates for teachers to learn and practice MakerSpaces

    Contact the school for planning flex day training sessions or afterschool training sessions. Contact the district PD to schedule training sessions during Spring Break.
    Teacher Training sessions will include: research showing the merits of students using MakerSpaces, the role of the 4Cs, and lesson design
  • Development of MakerSpace training Sessions

    The PD specialist will use the MakerSpace plan from the school and district, begin writing and planning the training sessions.
  • Create a google classroom for MakerSpace Resources

    For the Spring Break training sessions: Create a google classroom for MakerSpace Resources that teachers, admins, and librarians can access.
  • Budget Planning

    Attend any school budget meetings to find out availability of funds and get on the funding schedule for next year.
  • Research and Find Conferences

    Research and Find Conferences to attend that have MakerSpaces being showcased. Invite teachers to attend.
  • Summer Training for MakerSpaces

    Initiate conversations to garner interest in attending summer training sessions
  • Fall Implementation MakerSpaces

    Teachers will begin having students use MakerSpaces in their classrooms as part of the curriculum.
    Teachers will receive support from their PD Specialist in the way of emails, google classroom and monthly meetings.
  • Record a MakerSpace Lesson

    As part of continued support, teachers will video record one lesson using MakerSpace and share it with the group at their monthly meeting in September
  • MakerSpace observation and reflection sessions

    The teacher group will have a day to meet and visit a classroom using MakerSpace and watch a lesson. After the lesson, the teachers will be able to meet and debrief successes and opportunities for growth and a make a growth goal for their own classes.
