The French and Indian War
During the French and Indian war the British fought against the French and American Indians. The war was a product of the struggle between the Biritsh and French over territory and wealth. At the end of the war the British gained most of the land in North America from the French. -
The Stamp Act
Britain passed the Stamp Act which allowed them to tax the American settlers for all the printed paper that they used. -
The Tea Act
The Tea Act was implemented to help the failing East India Company and allowed it to have a monopoly over the tea sales in America. The Tea Act meant that American colonists could only buy tea from that company. The colonists response to this act was to dump the tea from the ships which lead to the Boston Tea Party. -
The Boston Tea Party
The Boston Tea Party was a protest against the British government. The participants boarded ships in the harbor and threw the tea cargo overboard. -
The Boston Port Act
One of the Intolerable Acts, the Boston Port Act restricted trade from the Boston Harbor only allowing food and firewood with town meetings prohibited giving more power to the royal governor. -
The Massachusetts Government Act
The Massachusetts Government Act allowed for better regulation of Massachusetts Bay in New England. -
The Administration of Justice Act
The Administration of Justice Act was paseed to protect British officials charged with offenses by allowing them to go to England or another colony for trial. -
Quebec Act
Stated that the western region north of the Ohio River as part of Quebec and made Roman Catholicism the religion of Quebec. -
The Intolerable Act
The Intolderable Acts was the name given to the laws that was passed by British Parliament in reaction to the Boston Tea Party. These laws included the Boston Port Act, the Massachusetts Government Act, Administration of Justice Act, and the Quebec Act.
