    Germany attacked France through central Belgium. German bombers hit air bases in France. It occurred because France denied access to let the German army pass through Belgium. Germany did have a victory over France and accquired that territory.

    Germany bombs for 67 nights until they surrender. Hitler targeted the main cities in London and Britain. This even occurred because Hitler was mad at the RAF's superiority of the Luftwaffe. And angry with them by the bombing that was happening in German cities. The results of this were the beginning of the battle of Britain.

    Lend lease
    Lend-lease Act of 1941, is when the U.S. would lend arms or other supplies to our allies. The U.S. supplies Britain with war supplies and naval ships. In return for military bases in Bermuda and the Carribean. This occurred because Britain could not leave from their land easily because of German air strikes. The results of the lend-lease were that Germany was not able to acquire britain.

    Hitler was planning to attack the soviet union and on its way. The Russians found out. Caused Hitler to fight a two war front. Hitler underestimated his opponent, for they knew he was coming. This event occurred because Hitler wanted to continue expanding his territory. The result of this was that Hitler had to fight a two war front that he could not win.

    Germany invaded the Soviet Union
    Stalin stayed and helped fight while they were attacking the city Moscow. 3 million Soviet Soldiers were captured and were made prisoners, and 150,000 died.     Japan bombed Pearl Harbor
    Japan bombed the Pearl Harbor killing more than 2,400 and 1,000 Americans were wounded. They attacked Pearl Harbor with an airplane, flew low enough to the water to not be detected at all. This occurred because Japan wanted to expand and establish an Asian empire. They also the U.S. stopped trading with them. Japan wanted to cripple the Pacific fleet but didn't really happen. The result of this event was the declaration of war.

    Germany & US both declare war
    After Japan bombed Pearl Harbor, Germany declared war on the United States.Germany and Japan were planning on expanding. The United States declared war on Japan and Germany. The U.S. declares war because it was inevitable and was going to happen, also because of the devastation of the Pearl Harbor. In 2 hours, 2,403 died and 21 ships were sunk or damaged. The result of this was the start of a global war because of the allies of countries, eventually involved everyone.

  • Bataan Death March

    Bataan Death March
    After April 9, the U.S surrendered to Japan. Approximately 75,000 Filipino and American troops were forced to march a 65 mile march to prison camps. Because of the hot weather and long distance, thousands died calling it the Bataan Death March. They also died because of the brutal soldiers, who beat and starved many to death. The result of this was the commander of Japanese invasion forces were captured and executed for their crimes.

  • Battle of Midway

    Battle of Midway
    Finally six months after the attack on Pearl Harbor, the U.S. defeated Japan in the Battle of Midway. The U.S. code-breaking uncoded the ambush attack. They then destroyed the Japanese Navy. This battle was a turning point in WWII because it gave back the offensive position back to the U.S. and its allies.

  • Warsaw Ghetto uprising

    Warsaw Ghetto uprising
    Germans started to move surviving ghetto residents to concentrations camps. In disagreement with the deportation, underground organizations created a self-defense unit known as Jewish Combat organization. Another organization was known as the Jewish Military Union. They had about 200 members in the first org, and the second one has about 500 members. They worked together to destroy the ghettos but died in battle.

    American and other Allied troops landed in Normandy, France, on D-Day to begin the liberation of Western Europe. D-day is the battle of the freedom they were trying to win back from Germany. On D-day 156,000 American, British, and Candian troops invaded France's Normandy region. Hitler surrendered but committed suicide so he could not be captured.

    Liberation of concentration camps
    The Soviet Union was the first to liberate the concentration camp survivors. on Jan 27 the freed the prisoners of Auschwitz. There were 4 hundred that were sick and exhausted. Also left behind were victims' belongings: 348,820 men's suits, 836,255 women's coats, and tens of thousands of pairs of shoes. They continued and liberated other camps. The result was liberation of the prisoners that the germans put there.

    The battle of Iwo Jima was the American invasion of Iwo Jima. Iwo Jima was defeated by 23,000 Japanese navy and army troops. It lasted a month but the U.S. wiped them out. American losses included 5,900 dead and 17,400 wounded. The Japanese fought from an elaborate network of caves, dugouts, tunnels, and underground installations that were difficult to find and destroy.
