  • The Sugar Act

    The Sugar Act
    Under the Molasses Act colonial merchants were required to pay a tax of six pence per gallon on the importation of foreign molasses. But since there was a lot of of corruption, they mostly evaded the taxes and undercut the intention of the tax and said that the English product would be cheaper than that from the French West Indies.This hurt the British West Indies market in molasses and sugar and the market for rum, which the colonies had been producing with the cheaper French molasses.

    There were many different events and acts of the American Revolution and it was very hectic with many different up and downs the colonist finally got what they wanted which was there freedom from Britain and the British got a lot but in the end they all lived happy and free from each other.
  • The Currency Act

    The Currency Act
    The Currency Act was one of a series of taxes that divided Great Britain and its colonies in America.The Currency Act of 1764 was a British Law, passed by the Parliament of Great Britain on September 1, 1764, that was designed to control the colonial currency system. The colonies suffered a constant shortage of hard currency which was (silver and gold) and lead for them to conduct trade. It signaled an upset in the long term commercial and political relationship with Great Britain.

    On March 22nd 1765, British Parliament passed the stamp act which required colonist to pay taxes on every piece of printer paper that they owned also ships papers, legal documents, licenses, newspapers, and other publications were taxed. later on the British repealed it and lost all there tax money and were in debt from a seven year war.

    The Quartering Acts were two British Laws, passed by the Parliament of Great Britain 1765 and 1774, that were designed to force local colonial governments to provide provisions and housing to British soldiers stationed in the 13 Colonies of America. This infuriated the colonist, British soldier came in took their homes and treated them like they were nothing and they were also violating the Bill of Rights. This benefited the British a lot their soldiers got a free place to eat and shelter.

    Act of the Parliament of Great Britain, which accompanied the repeal of the Stamp Act 1765 in March 18, 1766. Parliament finalizes the repeal of the stamp act, but declares that it has the right to tax colonies. The colonist were happy but the British were upset.
  • The Townsend Acts

    The Townsend Acts
    The Townshend Acts which was a series of steps that was introduced by Charles Townshend in 1767 into the English Parliament. This imposed duties on glass, lead, paints, paper and tea imported into the colonies, to help pay for colonies.
  • The Boston Massacre

    The Boston Massacre
    The Boston Massacre occurred on March 5, 1770. A squad of British soldiers, come to support a posy of British soldiers who was being attacked by a mob of angry colonist, and then shots fired killing unarmed colonist protesting.This hurt the British a lot especially when there Captain was arrested along with eight other of the soldiers. Although some colonist were murdered it helped unite the rest of colonist and they come together as one.

    The Tea Act was passed by the British Parliament on the colonists. Which was used to help the East India Company and there huge debt, the tea act was a major cause of the Boston Tea Party. This angered the colonist and made the British happy they were getting a lot from the colonist.

    The Boston Tea Party
    The Boston Tea Party was a political protest by Samuel Adams and the Sons of Liberty in which they boarded three ships in the Boston harbor and threw 342 chests of tea overboard. This resulted in the passage of the punitive Coercive Acts in 1774 and pushed the two sides closer to war. The British were really angry and lost thousands of dollars in tea. The British thought that the colonist should be taught a lesson so they set the Intolerable Acts.

    The Boston Port Act was a law passed by the British parliament. It was used and designed to punish the people of Boston, Massachusetts for what they did in the Boston Tea Party. The Port was one of a series of acts that was passed by the British parliament. The colonist were mad at this but the British were happy they were getting what they wanted which as there tea money.
  • Quebec Act

    Quebec Act
    The Quebec act was passed by the British Parliament to provide permanent command in Canada replacing the temporary government they had at the time of the proclamation of 1773 and to give them complete religious freedom and restored the French from of civil law. The colonist viewed the Quebec act as just another one of the Intolerable acts. The British were happy it gave them just another law that enabled them to get more control over North America.
  • 1st Continental Congress

    1st Continental Congress
    The first Continental Congress was a meeting of delegates from twelve of the Thirteen Colonies who met from September 5 to October 26, 1774 in which they met in response to the British passing the Intolerable acts. It was a series of steps to try and help the Congress deal with the British Parliament.
  • Edenton Tea Party

    On October 25, 1774, Mrs. Penelope Barker organized this at the home of Mrs. Elizabeth King. Fifty-one women in Edenton North Carolina were involved. Together they formed an alliance supporting the American cause against "taxation without representation". On October 25, 1774, and signed a statement of protest vowing to give up tea and boycott other British products until such time that all acts which tend to enslave our Native country shall be repealed.
  • Ride Of Paul Revere

     Ride Of Paul Revere
    Paul Revere was an express rider to carry news, messages, and copies of important documents as far away as New York and Philadelphia. He rode with William Dawes to warn the army of every move that the British did. This helped the colonist a lot but did not help the British at all.
  • Shot Heard Around The World

    Shot Heard Around The World
    The shot heard around the world was a reference to the first shot of the American Revolutionary War. It occurred between about 700 British soldiers and about 70 minutemen. This crushed the British and helped the colonist tremendously giving the first victory in fight for America's Independence.
  • 2nd Continental Congress

    2nd Continental Congress
    The colonist knew that they had to get things figured out and get organized if they were going to defeat Great Britain. so on May, 10 1775 the delegates of the thirteen colonies met at the State House in Philadelphia. 65 representatives from the 13 colonies gathered to try and figure things out and take control of the war. This helped the colonist get ready for the war and it affected Britain by letting the patriots get prepared.
  • Common Sense

    Common Sense was a pamphlet written by Thomas Paine on January 10, 1776. It was written in order to endorse independence from Great Britain to the people in the thirteen colonies just at the beginning of the American Revolution. The colonist wanted independence from Britain the Common Sense pamphlet convinced many of that colonist that it was finally time to break away from British rule. But the Common Sense Pamphlet was not the end of Thomas paints involvement in the American Revolution.

    The declaration of Independence was a statement issued by the Second Continental Congress on July 4, 1776 which declared the thirteen state as the sovereign states, that they were no longer under British rule and were finally independent. The colonist were happy they finally had there freedom they always wanted the British however were not so happy. This lead to multiple fights along different ports and posts but they went on about there ways and lived free from each other.
  • Articles of Confederation

    The Articles of Confederation was an agreement and a written document that established the commissions of the national government of the United States, after declaring independence from Britain. It was the first Constitution of the United States that was adopted on November 15, 1777 and ratified on March 1, 1781. The colonist were happy that they finally had a strong constitution but the British were not gonna give up.
