    Catholicism Foundation

    Catholicism was founded by Jesus Christ and is in communion with Rome and the majority follow the Latin/Roman rite. Roman Catholics respect the authority of the Pope and split from the separate religion of Judaism.

    Eastern Orthodox Foundation

    Eastern Orthodox Churches trace their heritage back to the Apostolic Church and the Schism. They split off from the Roman Catholic Church during the Great Schism due to disagreements between the last supper and the life of priests.

    Lutheran Foundation

    Lutheran was founded in 1517 by Martin Luther. They split from the Catholic Church due to disagreements talked about in the protestant reformation.

    Anglican Foundation

    The Church of England or Anglican Church began during the Reformation in England (1527– 1603) under Henry VIII, Edward VI and Elizabeth 1. It was created and split off from the Roman Catholic Church because the Pope refused to let the King divorce his wife.

    Presbyterian Foundation

    Presbyterians trace their heritage back to the sixteenth-century Protestant reformers, Zwingli, Calvin and Knox. They split from the Roman Catholic Church due to doctrine controversies.
  • Baptists Foundation

    Roger Williams founded the Baptist church, which was separated from the Church of England. They split because they believed their followers should be voluntary and believers should be baptised.
  • Methodist Foundation

    The Methodist church was founded by John Wesley. They split from the Anglican Church of England because they disagreed on many things, including church governance, doctrine, worship styles, social principles, etc.
  • Salvation Army Foundation

    In the slums of London in 1865, William Booth, a former Methodist clergyman, and his wife Catherine established The Salvation Army. When many poor and working-class people were shut out of churches, William wished to open up the church to the entire community.
  • Uniting Church Foundation

    The Uniting Church is the third largest Christian denomination in Australia and the first church to be created in and of Australia. After many years of prayerful discernment, the Congregational Union in Australia, the Methodist Church of Australasia and the Presbyterian Church of Australia came together to create the Uniting Church.
