He was arrested for 2 months in Johannasburg for organizing Satygraha. He was then later was released for compromising. -

Gandhi was attacked and wounded by an Indian Extremist. He was attacked for settlement with Smuts. -

Gandhi became president of All India Home rule League. He passed a resolution for a Satygraha of non-cooperation. -
Home Spun Clothes
Gandhi was determined to wear only loin cloth for his identification with the people. He wanted to popularize Khaddar. Doing this was an act of rebellion basically saying that he does not need clothes that the British made. He will wear ones that were home spun. -
Salt March
Gandhi led a campaign with 79 volunteers from Sabarmathi to Dandi. They marched 200 miles on April 6.Many for arrested and imprisoned in Yervada jail witout many trials. They were rebelling against the British. They did not need British salt. -
Starts a Fast
Gandhi started fast unto death in prison in protest against the separate electorate for untouchables. -
Ends Fast
British accepted Yeravada pact and Gandhi concluded the fast in the presence of Shri Rabindranath Tagore. -
Tour in India
Gandhi started a tour in India to popularize end of untouchability. -
Civil Disobedience Campaign
Civil disobedience campaign was launched against British refusal to express their opinion on World War II. Several thousands of people were arrested. -
Another Fast
Gandhi took fast in Aga Khan Palace to end deadlock between Viceroy and the Indian leaders. -
Wife Dies
Mrs. Kasturibai died in Aga Khan Palace at the age of 74. -
Released from jail due to health
Due to deterioration of health Gandhi was released from Jail unconditionally (Gandhi spent a total of 2338 days in jail during his life time). -
Assasinated
Gandhi undertook fast for five days to bring communal harmony. On January 30 during a prayer meeting at the Birla house. Gandhiji was shot dead by a Hindu fanatic Nathuram Vinayak Godse who opposed strongly Hindu- Muslim unity.
