Leif Erikson was born in Norway. In 1001, Leif Erikson was the first person to land in North America. Many people think that Christopher Columbus was the first person but it was actually Erikson.

Vasco da Gama

Vasco da Gama made a trip from Portugal to India. He had to stop many times in Africa He also had problems with Muslim traders.Da Gama rounded the Cape of Good Hope and finally got to India!!

Chrisopher columbus

Christopher Columbus was from Genoa. He sailed the ocean blue in 1492. Columbus meant to go to Japan but ended up in the Bahamas. After that he went on three other voyages.

Ponce De Leon

Ponce de Leon was from Spain. He sailed with Christoper Columbus on his second voyage to America. He lator discoverd Florida and the fountain of youth.

Vasco Nunez De Balboa

Vasco Nunez De Balboa was from spain. He was an exploror and conquistador. In 1513 De Balboa was the first person to lead a European expidition.

Ferdinand Magellan

Ferdinand Magellan was born in Portugal. He went on his first voyage to India. He went to India to help install the Potuguese viceroy. Magellan had experienced his first battle there in1509. He eventually sailed to the Spice Islands to help Spain gain control of the area.

Eric the Red

Eric the Red was a viking. He was the first Eurapian in Greenland. He sailed from Iceland in 982. He also lead a group of colonists to greenland in 986. Eric the Red later on had a son named Leif Erriksson.
