  • Naviagtion Act

    Naviagtion Act
    The Naviagation Act directed the trade between England and the colonies.The Act prevented the colonies from trading with other countries, even if the other countries had better deals. This angered the colonists and it cause smuggling.
  • Proclamation of 1763

    This Act served as a temporary western boundary for the colonies. Colonists were angry about this because the British kept them from getting FREE land, investors had already bought land ,and the people who owned shares in land companies were angry too.
  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    The Sugar Act lowered he tax on imported molasses; also let officers seize goods from smugglers without going to courty. Colonists believed this violated their rights as English citizens.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    The Stamp Act placed tax on almost all printed material (newspaper, wills, playing cards, etc.) All printed material had to have a stamp. A member of the Virgina House of Burgesses, Patrick Henry persuaded the burgesses to take action against the Act. The Sons of Liberty were also formed because of this Act.
  • Declaratory Act

    Declaratory Act
    This Act stated that Parliament had the right to tax and make decisions fort he British colonies "in all cases". This Act was made on the same day of the Stamp Act when merchants were losing so much business and begged for the British to cancel the Act.
  • Townshend Act

    Townshend Act
    New taxes were applied to only imported good such as glass, tea, and paper, with the tax being paid at the port of entry. Colonists were anger by any tax at this point. Colonists organized another boycott. Daugthers of Liiberty was formed, urging Americans to wear homemade fabrics and produce goods.
  • Tea Act

    Tea Act
    This Act allowed the East India Company a virtual monopoly or sole control of trade for tea in America. Colonial merchants vowed to stop the company's ships from unloading. This caused the Boston Tea Party, where men disguised as Mohawks boarded the ships and threw crates of tea overboard.
  • Coercive Acts

    Coercive Acts
    These acts closed Boston Harbor until Massachusetts colonist oaid for the ruined tea. It elimated the current gorvernment of Massachusetts and it restircted many other government meeting. It forced Bostonians to shelter soldiers. Parliament planned to isolate Boston with these acts. Colonist felt this violated thier rights as English citizens.
  • Quebec Act

    Quebec Act
    This act set up a government for Quebec. It gave Quebec the area west of Appalachians and north of the Ohio River. The provision ignored the colonial clams to the area. The colonists decied to express their name for the new laws - The Intolerable Acts.
