Visited Trinidad for the first time
I went to Trinidad as a baby because my family lives here, but I don't remember anything from this trip because I was so young. -
Visited Trinidad for a second time
The second time I visited I was four, this time I remember better because of I met one of my cousins who became one of my good friends while I was there. -

Pre-School
I began Pre-School at Dakota Nursery and I met friends that carried on into Kindergarten. -
Received SNES
My cousin gave me her Super Nintendo Entertainment System because she didn't want it anymore. This started my obsession with video games which consumed my life for the next 10+ years. -
First Kiss
In grade 1 my friend Garrett and I kissed at recess and everyone talked about it for days. Me and Garrett were good friends so it didn't seem weird to us, we also remained friend for 9 years afterwards. -
Met my best friend
In grade 2 I met my best friend Michal because she was in the same class as me. We quickly became friends because we both liked the monkey bars. -
Started dance class
I finished my first year at Royal Dance Conservatory doing Ballet, Tap, Jazz. This started my dance career. -
Tomboy Phase
Because I grew up surrounded by my boy cousins I grew up liking cars and video games so I naturally connected more with the boys in the class. I wanted to fit in more with the boys so I made my mum by me boy jeans and I wore them to school. -
First Boyfriend
My first boyfriend was this boy named Marshall who lived on my block. We went on a lot of Slurpee dates and he gave me a stuffed heart as a gift one day. I later found it was something he gave to another girl he liked which she gave back to him and then I cut it up and left it on his doorstep. That is how we broke up. -
Camp Stephens
I went to Camp Stephens in grade 7, this was significant because I stayed away from home for 3 nights. It was one of the best trips of my life and I also became best friends with another girl. -
First Heartbreak
One of my friends of four years I developed a crush on and we went to a movie and held hands and he also kissed me on the cheek which lead me to ask if he liked me. He told me I was like a sister to him, then I stopped talking to him. -
Grade 8 Graduation
I finished Junior High and for our graduation we went to the Canad Inns and had a dinner and dance. The dance was the best part because our whole grad was there and we had an afterparty bonfire. I also had my first slow dance. -
Awarded "Teacher's Choice"
I was chosen out of my entire dance school to receive an award for my dancing. The award was chosen for me because the teachers had selected me as hardworking, driven, and I had improved very much. -
Entered High School
I started grade nine at Dakota Collegiate which was a really new experience for me because there was so much more freedom. This opened up so many opportunities for me and allowed me to explore subjects I liked and understand what my strengths were. -

First Serious Relationship
My first serious relationship was with a boy named Mitchell who I met through my best friend at the time. Through Mitchell I met one of my current best friends but I lost all my best friends through this relationship. This was a bad event and caused me lots of pain, also my parents didn't like him. -
Quit Dance
I quit dance in grade 10 because my favourite teacher had left to start a dance crew. He was the only reason I had stayed at the school in the first place because he was so amazing at what he did. -
Encounters with Canada
In grade nine I got to experience the Arts and Culture Encounters with Canada program with one of my best friends. I spent a week in Ottawa with 100 other students from around Canada. We all became a family and still talk to each other to this day. -
Anil moved to Waterloo
One of my cousins that is like a brother to me moved for a job opportunity to Waterloo. This really affected me because he always took me places every weekend and I got to do such fun things with him and I would really miss him. -
Trip to Trinidad
I got to visit Trinidad for the first time in 12 years for Christmas and it was so amazing. I got to see family I haven't seen in a long time and go to my cousins wedding. It was more beautiful than I remember and I didn't want to leave to my family. This trip made me want to return every year to see my family. -
Sara's and Sunil's Wedding
Two of my closest got married on this day and it was a very special day to me because I took part in this wedding. It was the best wedding of been too and it made me so happy being there. The night ended in such an amazing way and I never wanted it to end. -
Trip to Banff/Canmore/Jasper
In the summer I went on a road trip with my parents and my cousin to Banff, Canmore, and Jasper. This was one of my favourite trips I've been on because it was so beautiful and so different from Winnipeg. Everything was about the outdoors and it really spiked my interest in hiking, biking, and general exercise because of all the available parks and trails through the mountains and forests. Canmore is the most beautiful place I've been to and I hope to return there soon. -
Cousins Cabin Trip
My 7 cousins and I rented a cabin for three nights just outside of Lake Winnipeg. We had been talking about doing this for years and we finally decided to once we found out two of us were moving away. It was such an amazing experience and made me feel so blessed for the family I have. This was a bittersweet moment also because we realized it would be the only time we could all get together for a while because of the two cousins moving. -
Joshua was born
My first nephew was born a week before 2 weeks before I got to Trinidad, so I got to meet him for the first time while I was there. I spent an entire month taking care of him and it was a truely amazing experience. -
Trip to Trinidad
I got to visit Trinidad again for Christmas and I got to focus on my family the whole time because there was no special event I had to go to this time. We got to explore the island so much more and experience places not many people get to see. -
Sara and Sunil move to Calgary
My two cousins (previously mentioned) were offered job opportunities in Calgary which they accepted. This was a bittersweet moment because I grew up with my cousin and didn't like the thought of not getting to see them for years. At the same time I was proud of them for getting a very good job and making the move for themselves.
