  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    In 1765 George III was not very liked in the colonies due to something called the Stamp Act. In New York and Boston many riots broke out due to the stamp act which was an act that made shipping companies pay for stamps so the colonies stopped giving the British goods and in return the British repelled the stamp act. One of the people who spoke out with Thomas Hutchinson and because of doing so his house was in ruins and everything he had.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    In Boston after the Townshend act was put in place the people felt violated and upset, British soldiers were sent to keep everything in control. A British soldier Private Hugh White got in a argument with a few colonist which escalated and brought more colonist fighting against him so more soldiers were sent to keep in control. This only made the colonist more upset and things started to escalate until they started fighting with weapons. Five killed and some were arrested and the soldiers left.
  • First Continental Congress

    First Continental Congress
    The Continental Congress was held on September fifth 1774. This meeting was each delicate from every colony except for Georgia. They were upset about all the things the British was forcing on them and they felt they had to so something about it. They met in Philly Pennsylvania to discuss the British acts and sent a letter to King George explaining how they felt about it. Afterwards King George ignored it and they begin their boycott.
  • Declaration of Independence

    Declaration of Independence
    After all the unfair treatment the colonies suffered , the delegates had their second Continental Congress meeting in Philadelphia on May. Thomas Jefferson using John Locke philosophe drafted the document of independence to King George to declare their independence as a nation.
  • Yorktown

    Yorktown
    During the war with the colonies the British were fighting France, Spain and Holland so the colonist chose to use the information the had and get help from France. New York and Virginia the Colonist and France were fighting against Britain. The British had to end up surrendering this was another battle won by the Americans.
  • End of War

    End of War
    This is the end of the American Revolution. In Paris France Ben Franklin and John Adams and other negotiators were coming up with the treaty between Britain and The Colonist. This document showed that Great Britain noticed and agreed that America was a free and Independent states and they no longer governed them though it took a while for King Gorge to sign it the colonist had a victory.
  • The Constitution

    The Constitution
    The Articles of Confederation had many issues with it but one big issue they had was with the money. They had debt with other lands and the army wasn't getting so they had a convention and gathered in secret to discuss the change of articles of confederation. The debate was held in secret so that the delegates could feel free to speak their mind. Their goal was to create a government that was powerful enough to run a country. This is were they discussed balance of power.
  • Bill of Rights

    The Bill of Rights were the first ten amendments, this were list of freedoms the citizens had. This was shows what the Government can’t and can control. In 1791 this bill was passed and was added to the U.S. constitution
