Da Vinci's Parachute Sketch
Leonardo Da Vinci had the idea of a device that would allow a man to descend from the skies and land safely. This would become into what we now know as a parachute. -
Faust Vrancic's Homo Volans
In 1617, Faust Vrancic built the parachute he used to jump from a tower in Venice based on Leonardo da Vinci's design. -
The Diving Dress
Since the 1700's many attempts were made to create a diving suit. Many failed and some of them served as milestones to create what we have today. In 1715 Pierre Remy de Beauve created the diving dress which used 2 hoses. One to bring in oxygen to the diver and one to exhale. -
Andre Garnerin first non-rigid parachute.
Andre Garnerin was the first person to create a parachute without a solid frame and also introduced the air vent to prevent the parachute from oscilating. He jumped from hot air balloons that reached 8,000 ft. of altitude. -
Diving Suit with Heavy Footers
German August Siebe created an improved diving suit similar to the diving dress. -
First Foldable Parachute
Paul Letteman and Kathchen Paulus created a foldable parachute that could be carried in the person's back before releasing it. -
Wright Brothers First Flight
It was until this day that the first successfull flight by human beings happened. Wilbur and Orville Wright created an airplane and they were able to fly for 852 ft. and 59 seconds. -
Pressure Regulator and Compressed Air Bottles
Jacques Cousteau and Emile Gagnan created a diving suit which had a pressure regulator and compressed air bottles very similar to the diving suits we have today. -
Modern Planes
These are the planes that are now used daily for national and international flights. What once began as a dream of a one person flying machine, then becoming a 59 second flight, now is what we all know. Airplanes that are capable of transporting large ammounts of weight, long distances, and long hours of straight flight. -
Modern Scuba Gear
The Scuba gear evolved to what we have today. The modern scuba gear used by divers for recreational or professional purposes. -
Modern Parachutes
These are the parachutes we use today. These are built with many components to increase safety and prevent accidents. These parachutes allow the user to contol their descent and change trajectory while maintaining stability to allow a safe landing.
