On April 15th 1452, Leonardo da Vinci was born. He was the illegitimate son of a lawyer and a housemaid. He was born in the village of Vinci.

At the age of fourteen, Leonardo da Vinci began his apprenticeship under his master, Verrocchio. From an early age it was apparent that Leonardo was very skilled at painting.

When Leonardo da Vinci turned twenty, he was considered a master artist in the Guild of St. Luke. After receiving this honor, he opened up his own workshop.

In 1478 Leonardo da Vinci left Vercchio's workshop. At this time, he finally moved out of his father's house. This is also when he received his first two jobs.

In the year of 1498 Leonardo da Vinci finished one of his most well known paintings, The Last Supper. The picture depicts Jesus sitting with his apostles for his last meal.

Sometime between 1505 and 1507 it is believed that Leonardo da Vinci finished his masterpiece, the Mona Lisa. Critics are unsure about the exact date of its completion.

On May 2nd, 1519 Leonardo da Vinci died. Leonardo da Vinci died at the Close Luce in France. His death was morned by close friend and king of France Francois I.
