National Defense Act

Elementary and Secondary Education Act
PL 89-10\ The elementary and secondary education act provided money to states and districts to help with developing programs for economically disadvantaged children and children with disabilities. -
Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act
Section 504 By law, people can no longer be discriminated against because of a disability by any program that receiving federal funds. -
Education for All Handicapped Children Act
EAHCA The EAHCA gave free appropriate public education for all children with disabilities ages 6 to 21; protected children with disabilities and their parent's rights considering educational decision making, the IEP became a mandate for documenting student's education plans, and declared that students must receive education in the least restrictive environment. -
Americans with Disabilities Act
ADA The ADA gave civil right protection to people with disabilities in private sector employment, provided access to public services, accomodations, transportation and telecommunications. -
Individuals with Disabilities Education Act 1990
IDEA IDEA added autism and traumatic brain injury as new categories of disability. It also required that all IEP's now have a transition services statement no later than age 16. -
Individuals with Disabilities Education Act 1997
IDEA 1997 IDEA 1997 mandated that a regular ed teacher must be a part of the IEP team, students who have disabilities must have access to the general ed curriculum. The IEP must have a PBS plan if appropriate, students with disabilities should be included in state and district wide assessments. Manifestation determination came into effect.
