  • Hitler Starts to Use German Hatred of the Treaty of Versailles to Benefit Himself

    Hitler tries to show his German patriotism by demonstrating hatred of the Treaty of Versailles. Hitler withdraws Germany from the league of nations and explains it by blaiming the Treaty of Versailles. However the Treaty of Versailles had nothing to do with the withdrawal.
  • Hitler Allies with Itlay

    Hitler Allies with Itlay
    In 1936 Hitler allies with Itlay. In this treaty Mussolini was given support from Germany in his invasion of Ethiopia. Also it opened union of Austria and Germany.
  • Return of the Reich

    About three million German speakers lived in Western Czechoslovakia in an arean known as Sudetenland. With secret funding from the Nazis, many of those Germans agitaed for a " return of the Reich." By summer time Hitler was supporting those demands.
  • Incorperation of Poland with Germany

    After Poland surrendered to Germany, the Nazis quickly incorperated much of Poland with Germany. After doing so the Nazis renamed the terriotory Warthagau. Hitler placed the rule of the area under Hans Frank.
  • Backwards Polish Attack

    Backwards Polish Attack
    Nazis took a group of Polish prisoners from a concentration camp and brought them to a town called Gleiwitz. After being dressed in Polish army uniforms they were killed. The next day the German army and SS marched into Poland and claimed they were retailiating against the Polish attack.
  • Jews Start to Become Picked Out of the Crowds

    By the end of 1939 almost all of the Jews in Germany were forced to wear " Yellow Stars" on their person at all times in public. This allowed everyone to be able to clearly see who was a Jew and who was not. After the Jews started wearing these stars was the time when a lot of the discrimination against the Jews starts, such as curfew for Jews and only Jews
  • Nazis Attention Shifts to the West

    The Nazis turn their attention to the West. They conquer Denamrk and Norway. Later that year they conquered Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxemburg.
  • Invasion of Russia

    Invasion of Russia
    Hitler ordered the invasion of Russia. His goal was to destroy once and for all the " Jewish- Bolshevik menace." SS groups followed behind the military and their job was to kill anyone considered an "enemy of the state."
  • U.S. Declares War on Japan

    U.S. Declares War on Japan
    In December of 1941 the U.S. declares war on Japan. The day before the Japanesse had bombed the U.S. naval base named Pearl Harbor. Japan and Germany were allies.
  • Jews Forced into Ghettos

    By the summer of 1941 most Jews in Germany were forced into Ghettos. The Jews started to be Ghettoized throughout all of Eastern Europe. German officials tried to make the Ghettos sound nice to the people outside of them, but as we know now this was not completely the case.
