    Haitian War of Independence

    "The Haitian Revolution has often been described as the largest and most successful slave rebellion in the Western Hemisphere." The Haitians faught hard to gain their independence from France. This war was called the Haitian revolution, it was more complex than any other war of independence due to the amount of wars going on at the same time. In 1804 Dessalines, a l’Overture’s general and former slave declared Haiti independent.

    Chilean War of Independence

    The Chilean War of Independence was basically chiliean criollos against Spain (independentists) and chilean criollos with Spain (royalists).This war lasted over a decade, a decade full of violence and many casualties. The war ended when the last royalist was kicked out of Spain. Chile gained it's independence in 1826.

    Peruvian War of Independence

    July 28, 1821, Jose de San Martin proclaimed Peru's Independence. He said, “From this moment on, Peru is free and independent; by the general will of the people and the justice of its cause that God defends. Long live the homeland! Long live freedom! Long live our independence!”. However Spain, didn't recognize that and the battles continued. It wasn't till the battle of ayacucho, in 1824 that Peruvians ended all ties with the Spaniards. San Martin was a very signifacant man.

    Central American War of Independence

    This war was many wars in one against Spain. These wars took place right after the french invasion and Napoleon. When the central junta fell, new juntas starting forming across the central americas. The war between these juntas resulted in Central American countries gaining their independence from Spain.

    Venezuela being one of the first countires to break away from Spains captivity, did have a great leader. Simon Bolivar advocated for Venezuela to have full independence, and his voice mattered. After the battle of Carabobo, the war with Spain finally ended.

    Brazilian War of Independence

    The king of Brazil left his son Dom Pedro in charge. Howver he took away his power and left him as governor with basically no control over Brazil. The people of Brazil managed to encourage Pedro to cut all ties with Portugal. Once Pedro did that, he intructed people to remove the white and blue armbands (symbolising their ties to their Mother Land).

    Cubaian War of Independence

    The war began in under the control of José Martí. The first couple months of the war were hard. However Martí pushed through for immediate revolutionary action. The biggest problem for Cuba was weapons. Spain had a great advantage but when the US got involved they didn't stand a chance. "By the Treaty of Paris of Dec. 10, 1898, Spain withdrew from Cuba. A U.S. occupation force remained for over three years, until the Republic of Cuba was effected on May 20,1902."
