    2 months - Infants coo, making pleasant vowel sounds.
    4 months on - Infants observe with interest in games such as peekaboo.
    6 months on - Infants babble, begin to comprehend a few heard words.
    8-12 months on - Infants participate, shows gestures.
    12 months - Say their first recognizable word, speed and accuracy increases.
    18-24 months - Toddlers combine two words, their vocabulary expands.
  • Age 2 to 5

    Age 2 to 5
    2 year old - Speaks with a rapidly growing vocabulary of fifty or more words. Uses pronouns and understands the concept of "mine".
    3 year old - Children produce 3-word sentences, learning how to categorize items.
    4 -5 year old - Children can explain things better, can connect words, use words that explain complicated emotions, where things are, and whats going on in their brain.
  • Age 6 to 12

    Age 6 to 12
    6 year old - Can use grammatical markers, plurals. Start to use threats and promises, asks questions and meaning of words.
    7 year old - Start to choose their own friends, start communicating with unfamiliar people, engages in cooperative play.
    8-9 year old - Grammar knowledge is completed, production of figurative language increases, uses subject related vocabulary, understands passive sentences.
    10-12 year old - Forms opinions based on evidence, understands jokes and riddles.
