  • Cooing/Babbling

    Infants around 2 months old will begin to make noises with their mouth, such as cooing and around 6 months they will begin to babble.
  • Joint Attention

    Around 11 months old the baby will begin to take turns and use getures. As well as sharing attention with the adult. This means if someone points to an object and tells the baby to look at it, it will look where you are pointing.
  • First Words

    Around 12 months, the baby will say its first words. Often these first words are short easy ones, such as mama or papa. This knowledge of words and comprehension increases rapidly.
  • Spoken Vocabulary

    From 18-24 months old, the baby will have a spoken vocabulary of 50-250 words.
  • Combining words

    Toddlers learn how to combine words, often only two
  • Sentences

    Children 3 and up can form sentences and they become more and more complex as they get older. Language knowledge continues to increase even as we are adults.
