    First colonies
    the first american colonies colonies were 13. The first settlers were called the pilgrims and were fleeing UK because they wanted to create their own society and their own religion. During their journey, they created a sort of pact called the Mayflower compact in wich they inscribed their rules to set up their own society.

    the first industrial revolution in the US took place from the late 1700's to the 1900's. at this period, there is the emerging of textile manufactures and a great production of cotton. this period was also a period of mass productions in the country with exportations and importations, using of new technologies and industrial machines.

    The independence
    the independence of the US took place after the 13 individual and british colonies decided to be united because the american people were against UK; indeed they were not treated as british citizens. Five people have written the declaration : John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, Robert R. Livingston and Roger Sherman. All those men represented the 13 colonies. the UK did not want to retaliate because they had already lost a war against them.

    the US constitution is considered today as the more oldest constitution on the world. it is the highest form of law in the country and it guarantees basic and main rights of all american citizens. there is several articles in the constitution which organized the american society like the legislative, the executive and the judicial powers for example.

    the bill of rights are the first ten amendment written in the US constitution. it guarantees the rights of the citizens but also the limits of power of each sate. it was adopted in 1791.
  • Manifest Destiny

    Manifest Destiny
    during this period, John O'Sullivan, a newspaperman used for the first time the term of "manifest destiny". this means that, for him and american political leaders of that time, the US had to grow and take lands of other people (Natives Americans and Mexicans) to take over the continent. for them, M.D is their future determinated by a divine source.

    After the independence, the US continued to grow and they needeed a more bigger territory so they decided to extand their territory by west. first, UK gave the east part of the mississipi and the oregon territory to US. then, Us bought a huge territory to France for a very low price. US then decided to took the Texas and californian territories which belonged to Mexico. Step by step, US conquered all the continent which was their main goal.

    the US civil war was the most deadliest war in the United States. this war took place between the northern and southern states of the US. the south was called the confederacy and the south the union. the south wanted to leave the US and wanted to have more power and the north wanted to be united.
