  • Medal for heroism

    On this date President Kennedy was awarded the Medal for heroism in the Navy. I think this award was very crucial in shaping how Kennedy acted and was further portrayed as a person. This had a big impact on his likability as a president.
  • Won presidency

    This event was clearly the biggest event that occurred throughout President Kennedy's life and was the ultimate reason as to why he was targeted for assassination as told in this book. On this date he defeated Richard Nixon to become the 35th president of the United States. At only age 43 he became the youngest to do so, yet he was very well liked throughout America.
  • Brought economy out of recession

    The U.S. was in recession when Kennedy took the office. He went through some extensive measures and even started his own executive anti-recessionary acceleration program. This large rate of growth continued until 1969 and hasn't been repeated for such a sustained period yet in our lives. This was very effective in sustaining his spot as one of the greatest presidents that we've had.
  • Established the Peace Corps

    On this date President Kennedy established the Peace Corps under Executive Order 10924. This is a program for American volunteers that would help underdeveloped nations. This was effective in making him much more of a likable president. Many american people respected the president more after making this move.
  • Worked towards civil rights

    On this date JFK signed Executive order 10925 which required government contractors to take affirmative action to ensure all employees are treated equally irrespective of their race, creed, color, or national origin. This made a diverse group of people in America begin to really respect him.
  • Progressed development of Latin America

    From 1962 clear through 1967 America supplied 1.4 billion dollars per year to ensure the growth of Latin America. JFK was a huge supporter and advocate in this progression during these times. This made the people of America respect him more considering the efforts he's making towards other parts of our lands.
  • Averted nuclear war

    This date started the tenure of when the Cold War came the closest to escalating into a full scale nuclear war. After a period of intense negotiations started by a message from the soviet leader to JFK the Cuban Missile Crisis soon came to an end a few short weeks later. This action proved how good of a negotiator that JFK was and how much he cared for the US, and that he truly wanted the best for the country.
  • Equal Pay Act of 1963

    On this date JFK signed into law the Equal Pay Act of 1963 to abolish wage disparity based on sex. This was a huge step towards closing the wage gap for woman. This was very effective in getting both genders to jump on board with what he's trying to give to America.
  • Contributed to the formation of Partial Nuclear Test Ban Treaty

    On this date JFK made his presence felt in an effort to slow down the nuclear arms race and protect us from radioactive contamination. This was effective for Americans to truly believe that he's a good person and cares about America's environment.
  • His Death

    On this date President Kennedy was assassinated. This date touched the lives of all Americans at this time. It greatly effected America in the coming years and really the lives of all Americans forever in many different ways.
