Benjamin Rush was one of the Founding Fathers of the U.S. He was one of the civic leaders in Philadelphia, where was a civic physician, politician, social reformer, educator and humanitarian, not to mention he's the founder of the Dickinson College in Carlisle , Pennsylvania. He attended the Continental Congress and also signed the DoI. He also served as Surgeon General in the Continental army. John Peter Muhlenberg
John was a american clergyman, continental army soldier during the American Revolutionary War. He later became a lutheran minister as he served in the United States House of Representatives. He commanded the Battle of Yorktown. -
Declaration of Independence
Statement adapted by the Second Continental Congress on July 4th, 1776. This document is a statement that the original 13 colonies of the United States of America has declared independence from Great Britain and will declare war on Great Britain. Thomas Jefferson wrote about 95% of the DoI, but there was other people that worked on it such as John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, etc. At the end of this document, there was a bunch of people that signed it. -
"E Pluribus Unum"
Meaning "Out of Many, One," it's one of the U.S' many motto's. It is on the Seal of United States, and also on the One Dollar Bill. This motto was suggested by Pierre Eugene du Simitiere to the committee that was responsible for creating the seal. There has been some controversy surrounding this motto in recent years since people think that it's out of many people's races, religions, languages and ancestries. This motto is also on coins like the penny and half dollar. -
Bill of RIghts
The Bill of Rights is a document that list the 10 amendments of the U.S Constitution. This was made for the battle of the U. S Constitution, and also to voice out the Anti-Federalists. It list the rights that everyone has, limitations of gov. power, etc. It list the 10 amendments such as right to bear arms, protection of private property, etc. The one who wrote the Bill of Rights was James Madison at the National Archives. It was ratified in December 15, 1791. -
Fifth Amendment
This amendment protects you from double jeopardy and self-incrimination and garuntees you the rights to due process, grand jury screening of criminal indictments. It also is compensation for the search and seizure of private property. A good example of a court case involving the fifth amendment is Miranda v. Arizona. That case makes it to where you must be informed of their rights for an attorney against self incrimination prior to interrogation by he police. "I plead the fifth."
