Benjamin Franklin after the U.S. became a nation, found the first public library. He was a man who was self taught when it came to his own knowledge. Franklin wanted to educate and share his knowledge with others. -

This school was the introduction for women to have the right to earn their own education just like men did in the past. For the longest time, only men were able to earn an education. -
American Federation of Teachers
After this union was created, the job as a teacher was taken more seriously. This union brought teachers together to collaborate socially to figure out what subjects that should be looked at school. -
Brown v. Board of Education
Public schools in the south had separate schools for different colors of skin. This case started a ripple affect of movements and changes. The first change was by not having segregated public schools in the south. -
Individuals with Disabilities Education Act
Children with disabilities either did not get an education or they did, but it was not a decent one before IDEA was passed. IDEA gave students with disabilities a chance to receive some sort of public education. Eventually colleges and universities offered higher education to students with disabilities.
