Her father lost his life in battle, when Josefa was just a child and her mother died shortly after. Thus, Josefa was left in charge of her older sister, María Sotero Ortiz, who supported Josefa to enter the prestigious Colegio de las Vizcainas in Mexico City. -

Josefa dropped out of school and married Miguel Domínguez, who shortly after was appointed Corregidor de Querétaro -
MEXICO'S INDEPENDENCE
Josefa Ortiz de Domínguez was able to warn the priest of Dolores, Miguel Hidalgo; Juan Aldama and Ignacio Aldama, making one of their shoes click on the ground, Mayor Ignacio Pérez heard the call and, under her command, warned the priest of the town of Dolores, in Guanajuato, that the conspiracy had been discovered, which is why the parish priest summoned the people to rise up in arms during the town's patronal mass, at dawn on September 16, 1810 -
PASSED AWAY
He died in Mexico City on March 2, 1829, a victim of pleurisy. Due to her actions and her influence on the development of the events prior to the beginning of the War of Independence and above all for being the fundamental character that led to the beginning of this feat, she has come to be considered as the Mother of the Mexican Nation.
