World War II was being fought in Europe. After the attack on U.S. Naval base at Pearl Harbor, Jack took command of PT-109 (patrol toredo) in theSoloman Islands, in the Pacific Ocean.
The PT-109 was attacked on August 2nd 1943. Two of Jack's men were killed. Jack helped his crew swim to safety and sent a message for help. -
