Chimpanzee research
Jane Goodall studied chimpanzees in the jungle for around about 50 years. In 1977, Jane observes cannibalism among the Gombe champanzees. Dr. Goodall notices that both chimpanzees and humans are very much alike in many different ways, down to showing emotions to how they treat their young and family. -

"Four year war"
A conflict between two rivaling groups of chimpanzees in Gombe begins. The "war" was between the Kahama splinter group and main Kasakela group of chimpanzees and lasted for around four years. This is where Jane Goodall realizes that chimpanzees are very much alike as humans in the way that they can show affection but also have brutal actions and characteristics. -
Founding of the Jane Goodalll Institute
To help and protect chimpanzees in their natural habitat and support research in Gombe, Jane Goodall founded the "Jane Goodall Institution". The institute today is a global leader in protecting chimpanzees and their habitats. -
Jane becomes and activist
In 1986, Jane Goodall goes to Chicago to attend the first "Understanding Chimpanzees" conference. -
Creation of Roots & Shoots
A group of Tanzanian students and Dr. Jane Goodall founded a program about making positive changes happen called "Roots & Shoots". With thousands of young people in over 120 countries, the Roots & Shoots program helps educate and connect children with the same desire to help shape and create a better world and identify problems in their communities. -
Tchimpounga Sanctuarty is founded
Rehabilitation center in Tchimpounga is founded to provide a home and care for chimpanzees orphaned by the illegal commercial bushmeat and pet trades. The Tchimpounga Chimpanzee Rehabilitation Center now take cares for more than 150 children. -
Jane is named a UN Messenger of Peace
Dr. Goodall is given the highest honour of the United Nations for globalç citizens. She was bestowed upon by Secretary-General Kofi Annan for her efforts to create a more peaceful world through"'Roots & Shoots".
