Ivan's father,Vasily III, dies
Ivan lost an important figure early in his life and had no dad to raise him. This also made him become Grand Prince of Moscow at the age of 3. -

Boyars fight for power
At a young age Ivan's life was disrupted by boyars who where trying to take the power away from young Ivan. The boyars also tried to control Ivan so they could try to persuade him to act a certain way as ruler of Russia. This abuse that the boyars brought upon Ivan was an early start to the hatred that Ivan felt towards this group later in life. (Beck) -

Ivan's mother, Elena Glinskaya, dies
Ivan at the young age of 8 was forced into a position of extreme power with little experience. This was also the second traumatic of event that has happened to him and is think to be link to his deteriorated mental health later in life. -

His wife greatly influenced Ivan because of how much he cared for her. -

The people around him greatly influenced him as the ruler of Russia at a young age. There influence led to many of the positive reforms Ivan made early in his rule. -

Ivan's wife dies
Ivan went into a deep depression and his behavior become more erratic. He became a more hostile person, which soon showed up in his ruler strategies. -

The advisers that use to be around Ivan changed do to the death of his wife. This along with his new enraged state of mind started what was known as the "bad period" during his time as the Tzar of Russia. (Britannica) -

Boyars accused of murdering Ivan's wife
The accusation of murder that were brought upon the boyars, Russian nobles, quickly brought Ivan's wrath against them. (Beck) The accusations against them made Ivan turn agaisnt the boyars by setting up the oprichniki which killed and took the land of the boyars. (Britannica) -

Ivan kills his son
In one last fit of rage Ivan kills his only strong son leaving only his weak and unfit son to be heir to his thrown. This would soon lead to Russia's to a time period known as the "Time of Troubles" thanks to the poor leadership of Ivan's son. This was all the consequence of Ivan's erratic behavior. -
