Absence of Power
Before Ivan was crowned Czar, Ivan saw noblemen fight for power. In public Ivan was respected but in private Ivan was treated horribly. Violence and murder was common where Ivan grew up which led to his lack of trust with the nobles. -

Wife's Death
Ivan did very well during the begging of his rule but when his wife died Ivan went rotten. He blamed the death on the nobles and murdered many, many innocent people. -

Ivan had this cathedral built in Moscow, once it was done he had the architect blinded so that he would never build anything so beautiful in his life. -

Ivan had turned bad following the death of his wife and during a fit with his son Ivan struck his son with a cane which killed him. -
Livonian War
Ivan fought the Polish, Lithuanians, and Swedish in a war which lasted many years but in the end Russia was defeated and had to give up great deals of land shortly before his death. -
Ivans Death
Ivan died leaving his mentally and physically weak son to the throne, he was not fit for ruling and Russia was left in a bad state.
