Ivan IV first went to throne just when he was 3y/o in 1533, after his father passed.

After his mother died in 1538 the boyars Competed to control him as a child.

When Ivan turned 16, he crowned himself czar/ ceaser of the Russia`s. He was first to ever do so.

He married Anastasia in 1547 and lived peacefully, doing only good for the Russia`s.

In 1549 Ivan appointed people to his council. This started his constructive period in which he reformed tax collections, rural regions and church reforms.

In 1555 he had the St. Basil`s Cathedral built, to honor military victories over the Tatars who were a constant threat to Russia.

In 1560 Anastasia died of life-threatening illness, but Ivan accused the boyars of poisoning her. He went into deep depression and stared to make more unstable decisions.

He suddenly left as ruler after Anastasia`s death and the citizens begged for him back. But he only would do so, on his own terms that he would get absolute power.

When Ivan was focused on the Livonian war, the Tatars came back for revenge and burned Moscow to ashes, causing the population to plunge from 200 thousand to 30 thousand.

In 1581 he killed his oldest son and heir in a violent quarrel that he was initiated by his actions.

Ivan IV died of a stroke on March 28, 1584
