    The begining of the conflict

    In 1947 the United Nations decided to divid Israel into Jewish and Arab states. Arab leaders rejected this idea and when Israel declared independence in May of 1948, six Arab states attacked.Israel defeated the arab armies and it's territory got larger, because off the control of Jerusalem was divided between Israel and Jordan.
  • 6 day war

    Egypt sent away the United Nations peace keepers and started to prepare its armies, and Israel launched a suprise attack. Syria, Jordan, and Iraq joined the fighting but Israel already beat the Arab forces. Israel captured East Jerusalem and the West Bank from Jordan, Gaza and Sinia from Egypt, and Golan Heights from Syria. This was known as the 6 day war.
  • Yom Kippur War

    On Yom Kippur, Egypt and Syria launched a suprise attack on Israel. Egypt and Syria gained some land but Israel pushed them back and a cease-fire was declared. Later Israel withdrew from parts of Sinai and Golan Heights.
  • Peace between Israel and Egypt

    After the Egyptian President Anwar Sadat did a suprise visit to Jerusalem, US President Jimmy Carter brokers peaces between Israel and Egypt. Egypt is the first Arab nations to recognize Israel, and Israel withdrew from the rest of Sinai.

    Intifada

    Palestinians were angry that Israel was still occupying West Bank and Gaza, so they started a uprising, with young people throwing stones at Israeli soldiers. The first suicide attack on civilians in Israel occured in 1989, this continued to 1990.
