1948 War
Israel declares independance, Egypt, Jordan, Syria and Iraq attack Israel. Israel gains land, Egypt gains tha Gaza Strip and Jordan gains the West Bank and East Jerusalem. Hundreds of thousands of palistines and Jews become refugees -
Attrition Battles
The PLO (Palistinian Liberation Organization) started attacking Israel from their base in Jordan. This ended when the Jordanian army attacked and forced the PLO out of Jordan. -
The Six Day, or 1967 War
Egypt Blockades Israel and moves it;s troops along the Israeli border along with Jordan, Syria and Iraq. In the end Israel wins gaining the West Bank, East Jerusalem, Golan Heights, Gaza Strip and all of the Sinai Peninsula. Many Palistians and Jews become refugees and terrorism becomes more common. -
Settlement Construction Begins
Israelis begin to settle into it's newly gained territories froom the six day war. Palistinians were forced to move out of their lands to make way for the Israelis. Some Palistinians try to move to West Bank, but the Israelis make it very difficult for them to do so. -
The October / Yom Kippur War
Syria attacks Israel on one of Judaism's holiest days. Israel is saved from a devastating blow from Syria because Israel's border is further out due to Israel gaining land from the Six day war. From this battle, Israel learns the strategic importance of using gained land as a buffer zone between enemy countries -
Egypt and Israel Sign A Peace Agreement
After years of fighting Egypt and Israel both sign an agreement saying they are at peace with eachother. This made less conflict in the middle east. -
The 1982 Lebanon War
Palistine attacks the northern Israeli communities off it's base in Lebanon. Israel retaliates by conquring Lebanon. However, due to a civil war in Lebanon, Israel retreats. Israel takes some of Lebanon's land and adds it to Israel's growing Buffer Zone -
The First Intifada
Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and West Bank started rebelling against the Israeli settlers. As a result many Palestinians died in the fighting. -
The Oslo Accords
A set of agreements between the United States, Israel and the PLO stating that Israel could protect it's territories but must retreat from Palistinian land. For the first time the PLO recognized Israel and Israel recognizes the PLO. However no other steps towards peace was ever taken. -
Israel and Jordan Sign a Peace Treaty
With the help of the U.S, Israel and Jordan agree to a peace treaty that ends the conflict between the two. -
The Camp David Summit
The Palistinian presidemt is invited to Camp David to negotiate with Bill Clinton. The negotiations fail because the Palistinian President feels that Palistine should have all of it's land back and refuses to compramise -
The Second Intifada
After an Israeli General visits a sacrad jewish temple. There, he shouted a quote from the 6 day war about taking the land. This provoked the Palistinians and immediatly began to revolt.This became the secnd intifada is it is still going on. Thousands of people on both sides have died so far. -
Arab Peace Initiative Is Proposed
The Arab League proposespeace initiative to give palistine it;s pre 1967 borders.Israel accepts the offer but then backs out of it because they begin to argue how much land Palistine had. -
The Construction of the West Bank Barrier Begins
In order to protect itself from Palistine's suicide bomber and snipers, Israel begins to construct a wall between itself and the West Bank border. A similar wall around the Gaza Strip has proven to be very effective. However Israel has been unable to complete the wall around the West Bamk five years later than expected. -
Roadmap for Peace is Proposed
Made by the United States, Russia, the UN and the EU, the Roadmap was designed to make reciprocal steps to make peace in the region. The plan was divided into three phases. However due to the election of Hamas in 2006, the plan was halted. -
Disengagement From Gaza
Israel begins to seperate itself from Gaza and construct the West Bank wall further. Moving away from Gaza Strip was controversial because many of the Israeli settlers who live in Gaza and West Bank would have no Military to protect them. -

2006 Lebanon War
Hezbollah, another terrorist group bent on destroying Israel is based in Lebanon and has strong Syrian and Iranian Allies. In July 2006 they crossed the Israeli border and killed 10 solders. This sparked the war. -
The Battle of Gaza
The PLO and Hamas have been leading small fights against each other, but on June 2007 war broke out between the two. In responce the Palistinian President dissolved Hamas. In affect this makes Palistine two different states, a Hamas controlled Gaza and a PLO controlled West Bank -
The Gaza War
Israel Attacks Hamas groups in Gaza to stop the firing of missles on Israeli civilians. The plan worked, but since Hamas bases were in urbane areas, many civilian lives were lost. -

After Hamas gained control of Gaza, Israel and Egypt created a blockade around it and ordered for ships to be checked to see if missles were being smuggled in. After six Palistinian ships came to try to break up the blockade, Israeli Commandos entered the boat and killed everyone inside -
