Sunni's vs Shiites
After Muhammad dies, the Islamic empire tried to firgure out who should be the next emperor. This created a split in the empire, where some people wanted Muhammad's son in law Ali to be the next emperor-who were the Shiites- and the group of people who thought that any Muslim man could be ruler- or the Sunni's. -

Rise of the Abbasid dynasty
When the non-Arabs and Muslims felt like they were being oppressed, they decided to overthrow the dynasty and start their own that would bring equal oppretunities to all non-Muslims and Arabs. -

Umayyad Dynasty
The Umayyad dynasty was ruled by a group of Sunni's that ruled over the Islamic empire. They brought wealth and prosperity to the empire, howver they also didn't let non-Arabs and Muslims into important governemnt positions, and were cast out of society, which would cause problems in the future. -
The decline of the Islamic empire
The empire was on the verge of decline for many reasons, but mainly because they started to lose grips on their land. The larger, more powerful dynasties had started to overpower the Islamic states and take control of them. This eventually led to invasions and finally the fall of the empire.
