Elias Howe and James Hargreaves were the inventors. They both thought of it and perfected it. These machines were used to weave and sew fabric for clothing and other fabric items. This increased clothing industry producting, making cotton more of a need. -

Samuel Slator Invented the Factory System in 1789. All manufacturing under one roof. It brought workers and machines in one location, making work time quicker. An increase in growth of cities, job opportunities, and clothing industries. -
Interchangeable Parts
Eli Whitney invented this is 1801 thinking work would be much easier if parts for machines and guns all fit together instead of everyone being different. Production became much faster and more efficient. -
National Roads
In 1806 Albert Gallatin starting building a road of Maryland to Virginia. This allowed and helped people to move around the country easier. -
Steamboat
Robert Fulten invented the fist boat powered by a steam engine instead of a water wheel. Transportation became much faster and easier. -
Erie Canal
John C. Calhoun invented the Erie Canal in 1825 as a water way between NY City and Buffalo. This opened up Ohio for many Opportunities like farming and transportation. -
Lowell Mills
Francis Cabot Lowell invented this work place in 1826. It was a place where women and girls can to work 12 hour swifts and stayed in boarding homes. This increased job opportunites for young, unmarried women. Although it did give a chance for education, it did put some workers in harm. -
Steel Plow
John Deere made a light weight plow for heavier soils. The sturdy blade made plowing much faster and easier, increasing farming production. -
Telegraph
In 1837, Samuel Morse invented a machine used to communicate by tapping out codes that could be translated. This made communication quicker. -
Transcontinental Railroad
In 1869 the Central Pacific Railroad and Union Pacific Railroad started building the Transcontinental Railroad, a railroad that connected the Atlantic and Pacific coasts. The made shipping and moving goods much easier. With some of the hassel gone, people started moving more out west.
