Invention of Microwave Timeline

  • Radarange 1161

    Radarange 1161
It was built by a company called Raytheon in 1947.This was a HUGE Microwave compared to what we have today. This Microwave stands at around 5 and 1/2 feet and weights about 750 pounds total. This huge machine was very limited since it was the first of its type, usually ranging to around 5000-6000 dollars. It was made and tested at a Boston restaurant and later sold as a product called Radarange 1161.
  • Litton Microwave

    Litton Microwave
This Microwave was released in 1972. Litton was a company based in Minneapolis. At the time the product became really popular because of the lower price and compactness. Standing at only 1-2 feet this could sit on a counter top and pricing at about 300-439 dollars it was much more affordable. In the year 1972 around 40,000 copies sold making it almost as popular as the color TV set.
  • KitchenAid 24 inch Microwave

    KitchenAid 24 inch Microwave
This is the current technology of Microwave. It has much more settings than the Radarange 1611 like, different heat settings, cooling settings, Different toast settings etc. The Newer Microwaves can go much much hotter than the Radarange despite being 1/4 of the Size.
  • Microwave in the Future

    Microwave in the Future
Microwaves in the Future are said to be really compact. So compact that you could possibly travel with it. Microwaves from the future are said to use really powerful semi conductors ones that are used in cell phone towers. this will make it more safe and allow it to be hotter and more precise when toasting your bread or even pizza.
