International Conflicts in Mexico during the XIX century.

  • Separation of Texas.

    Separation of Texas.
    Timeframe: 1824-March 2nd,1836.
    Location: Border between Mexico and Texas.
    Description: After the abolition of the Mexican constitution in 1824, Texas seeked for independence, claiming that they didn't shared anything with Mexico, that the government couldn't fulfill their needs and whilst Texans still had slaves, Mexico had declared slavery as illegal. All of that summed up to a war, where Texas won and finally got independence.

    Main characters: Santa Anna, Stephen Austin and Samuel Houston.
  • Pastry War.

    Pastry War.
    Timeframe: 1828-1838
    Location: Mexico City.
    Description: During 1828, a group of Mexican soldiers looted a french bakery located in Mexico City. Remontel, the owner, went to the french embassy and asked for remuneration for the damages, the french government firstly asked for 60 000 pesos, which the mexican government refused to. The french asked for more money and Mexico didn't paid, leading up to a french invasion to mexican territory.

    War with the United States
    Timeframe: April 1846-February 1848
    Location: Río Grande
    Description: This war was a dispute between USA and Mexico, they both debated whether Texas ended at the Nueces River, (Mexico) or Río Grande (USA). After continuous victories from the USA army, they acquired the following territories: New Mexico, California, Utah, Nevada, Arizona, Texas and western Colorado, all for the price of 15 million dollars and the citizens.

  • French Intervention.

    French Intervention.
    Timeframe:1864-1867
    Location:Mexico.
    Description: Napoleon III sent troops to Mexico, with the idea to make another french empire. Maximilian became the emperor of Mexico, he was later executed by Benito Juarez orders. The battle of Puebla took place, where the French lost and were driven back to Veracruz. After that, more wars came along,the USA supported Benito and after Maximilian's death, the french withdrew from Mexico.
    Main characters: Benito Juarez, Napoleon III, Maximilian from Mexico.
  • Second Empire with Maximilian.

    Second Empire with Maximilian.
    Timeframe: 1864-1867.
    Location: France/Mexico.
    Description: Napoleon III convinced Maximilian to form an empire in Mexico,as in his native country he couldn't get the chance to rule.Benito Juarez who had self proclaimed himself as president was threatening Maximilian non stop.In Europe Prussia was taking over,Napoleon urged Maximilian to go back.He denied.Juarez with american support,captured Maximilian,murdering him and ending the empire.
