We will be looking at the basic functions of cells. As well as each student will start on creating a crossword puzzle using their vocabulary terms. Crossword puzzles will be exchanged with a classmate on March 21st for test review. -

Animal Cells Continued
Complete an Animal Cell Diagram .
Assigning group project on choice of creating either an animal cell, plant cell, or bacteria model. Students must complete this project by creating their cell represented by something such as a computer, a cake, a grocery store, ect. Ideas will be due March 15, Project due date is March 22. -
Plant Cells
Powerpoint lecture on plant cells. -
Plant Cells Continued
Finishing lecture on plant cells. Complete a Plant Cell Diagram. Assign a blog post.It is to be completed on an educational article dealing with plant cells, animal cells, or bacteria. Blog post must be completed with educational article link by March 20th. -
Plant and Animal Cell Lab
Students will complete a lab relay race on plant and animal cells. Students will be split into four teams and have to complete 3 challenges. Challenge 1 will be to view a series of microscope slides and determine wether the slide is a plant or animal cell. Challenge 2 students will have to complete a short internet scavenger hunt on plant and animal cells. Challenge 3 students will create one plant and one animal cell using jello (already set) as well as other editable items. -
Bacteria
Powerpoint lecture on bacteria. Complete a diagram on bacteria. Announce winner of lab relay race and eat our cells from lab. -
Plants, Animals, and Bacteria Wrap-up
We will have a 20 minute question and answer session conducted by students. For the remainder of the class students will be allowed to work on their crossword puzzle. Students will also use this time to comment on the blog post of the classmate that they are assigned. -
Review Day
Students will visit The Virtual Cell and answer a provided questionnaire on it. We will play the fly swatter review game. This is where students are placed in two teams and each team given a fly swatter. The board will have terms dealing with plant or animal cells and bacteria on it. The students will be asked a question and the first student to hit the correct answer with the fly swatter gets a point. Projects are due -
