6th September 1620
On 6th September 1620, a group of 102 pilgrims sailed from England to the ''new world'' on the ship ''The Mayflower''. They wanted political and religious freedom, that's why they sailed. There were storms, but they decided to keep going to the ''new world''. -
9th November 1620
Early November 1620, pilgrims saw land in the distance. They were excited because they finally reached the ''new world''. They saw a good place and they established a village called ''Plymouth''. 45 of them died the first month due to winter and hunger. -
March 1621
After a few months, pilgrims met a native american who introduce them to his tribe. Natives teached them how to make vegetables grow. After this, live bacame better for pilgrims. -
1750s
Other people wanted to live in the ''new world''. For 1750s, many english people moved there, and for that time they had 13 colonies there. -
1754-1763
From 1754 to 1763, the British army and the colonists fought the French at the 13 colonies, so Great Britain asked colonists for more money, so they raised taxes. Colonists thought this was ridiculous because they didn't even have representation in the British government and they refused to pay taxes. -
4th July 1776
On 4th July 1776, the 13 colonies declared independence from Great Britain and the war started. Colonists leaders published the declaration of independence that day. War started. Colonists, led by George Washington, fought with spanish and french help until 1783. That year the United States of America were declared in the Treaty of Paris. -
The Louisiana Purchase
This year, Napoleon, emperor of France, offered the USA to sell some land on North America for 15 million $. President Thomas Jefferson accepted, so they signed ''The Louisiana Purchase Agreement''. -
Expansion
By 1848, the country doubled it's size and extended from the Atlantic to the Pacific after a war with Mexico -
The American Civil War
In 1860, the ''Confederate States of America'' declared independence from the USA due to the people from the north os USA wanted to abolish slavery and the pople from the south wanted slaves. This started a civil war between south and north in 1861. -
End of the civil war
After 4 years of war, war ended with the surrender of the confederates. 600,000 people died in this conflict. After this, USA would never be as united as before it.
