  • Spinning Jenny

    Spinning  Jenny
    In 1764 the Spinning Jenny was invented by James Hargreaves. The Spinning Jenny made making clothes faster and easier. It also decreased the need for manual labor. It was inspired by the Flying shuttle. Instead of one spindle, the Spinning Jenny has 8 witch made it faster then the Flying shuttle. Without the Spinning Jenny it would be much harder and take longer to make clothes.
  • Watt Steam Engine

    Watt Steam Engine
    James Watts and with some help from Matthew Boulton made the Steam Engine in 1781. The first Steam engine was invented by Thomas Savery but later improved by Watts. it changed everyday life by making it easier to travel and trade.It was also a more efficient way to power things. The steam Engine uses coal to heat up water. The water then turns into steam. The steam is compressed which pushes the piston. In today's life the Steam Engine is used in some power plants.
  • Guillotine

    Guillotine
    A man by the name of Antoine Louis invented the Guillotine. The idea was pitched to him by Joseph Guillotine. It was used mostly during the french revolution to execute people who didn't agree or follow the revolution. Mr. Guillotine thought it was a more humane and quicker way to execute. It worked by having someone up their head in lunette. Someone will then pull a string that drops an angle blade down from 14 feet. Life would be different without it because execution would be less humane.

    Battery
    The first battery was invented by Alessandro Volta in 1800. Volta was inspired to invent the battery because of an idea Luigi Galvani had when dissecting a frog. Volta discovered that some metals together can make energy. He used alternating discs of Zinc and Copper with cardboard soaked in Brine in between to create an electrical current. Without the battery necessary items like phones and cars wouldn't be able to work.

    In 1816 Rene Laennec invented the stethoscope. Before the stethoscope people put their ears directly to the patients chest and listen. Laennec wasn't happy with this method so instead he rolled up pieces of paper and put his ear at one end the patients chest to the other. This way gave a much clearer sound and magnified it. Later Laennec replaced the paper with hollow wooden tube, creating the first stethoscope. without the stethoscope today it would be harder for doctors to diagnose patients.

    Joseph Nicephore Niepce invented the first camera in 1816. it was made out of 2 pieces of wood with glass. It wasn't Niepce's idea to make a camera, he was the first to make it and take a picture. without the camera people wouldn't be able to capture memories. A picture can tell a story that's why a camera is necessary in everyday life.

    The bicycle was invented by a German Man named Baron Von Drais in France. The first bike was made completely out of wood. Drais wanted to make traveling faster. The first design had no brakes or pedals. You had to use your feet to push yourself forward. Getting around would be harder and take longer to get around without a bike. Bikes make life much easier.

    Frenchman Louis Braille went blind in a childhood accident. When he was 15 he was inspired by a military code called night writing. he used the concept of raised dots to create Braille in 1824. there are 6 dots that can be raised that represent a letter or number. The way of writing is meant for the blind. If it wasn't for braille people who are blind wouldn't be able to read. This way they have a chance to learn and get the same education as those who can see.
