    James Watt designs a more efficient steam engine
    James Watt was a Scottish inventor and mechanical engineer, born in Greenock, who was renowned for his improvements of the steam engine. In 1765, James Watt while working at the University of Glasgow was told to make the steam engine more efficent. Unlike the other steam engine, Watt's design had a cooling system that could make the engine cool while the the cyleners was hot. This design helped bring about the Industrial Revolution.
  • America declares Independance from Britain

    America declares Independance from Britain
    The thirteen colonies in America had been at war with Britain for around a year when the Second Continental Congress decided it was time for the colonies to officially declare their independence. This meant that America would not be controlled by Briain any more. On June 11, 1776 the Continental Congress appointed five leaders, called the Committee of Five, to write a document explaining why they wanted their independence. On the 4th of July, the document was finished.

    The First Fleet consisted of 11 ships and about 1500 people in all. There were over 700 convicts, 290 marines, 400 sailors and some women and children. When they arrived in Botnay Bay, Captain Phillip disided to call the land Sydney after the British Home Secretary, Lord Sydney.

    George Stephenson was told to build a railway between Manchester and Liverpool. But, in the 1830 the cost to build a railway was massive and George was not convinced that the steam trains would worked properly on this rail line. He built it anyway and it was a great success. From then on railways were seen as a way of earning a fortune.

    In 1938, six people from the British parliarment formed a commitee which published the People's Charter. The charter is about six main aims of the movement such as:
    1. Every man can vote.
    2. To have a secret ballot when voting.
    3. No property qualification for members of Parliament
    4. Fair payment for all workers
    5. Equal constituencies
    6. Annuel parliaments

    By far one of the most colourful characters in the gold rush era was Edward Hargraves. It can be said of Hargraves that he single-handedly started the gold rush in New South Wales. Hargraves was definitely responsible for a major wave of immigration when he announced that he had found payable gold in New South Wales

    The Civil war was a domestic war fought between the Union of the North, and the Confederates of the South which starting over Abraham Lincoln announcing his ideas to ban slavery. The American Civil War impacted history greatly:if the war had never happened, then America might have been split (The South and the North), and slavery could still been legal.

    The last convict ship arrives in Western Australia, the Hougoumont. This brought the end of penal transportation to Australia. The penal system required convicts to work on government projects such as road construction, building works and mining. All of the convicts stopped this in 1868.

They kept the government system which would that was responsible for matters all over the whole nation. When the Constitution of Australia came into force, on 1 January 1901, the colonies collectively became states of the Commonwealth of Australia.

    The Wright brothers, Orville and Wilbur were two American brothers and inventors who invented and built the world's first successful airplane that a man could go on. In the next two years, the brothers developed their flying machine into the first practical fixed-wing aircraft which had controls on the aircraft.

    The Ford Model T is the frist auto-mobile ever made. The Model T made 1908 a historic year. The first production Model T was produced on August 12, 1908 and left the factory on September 27, 1908. On May 26, 1927, Henry Ford watched the 15 millionth Model T Ford being sold.

    The sinking of the Titanic happened on the 14 April through to the morning of 15 April 1912 in the north Atlantic Ocean, four days into its maiden voyage from Southampton to New York City. The largest passenger liner in service at the time, the Titanic had an estimated 2,200 people on board when it struck an iceberg. It took a full 2 hours and 40 minutes for the boa to sink. As a result of the lack of safety boats, 1500 people died.

    Archduke Ferdinand was assassinated so war was declared on Serbia. Russia declares war on Austria. Germany declares war on Russia. France declares war on Germany. Germany went through to Belgium to Attack France. Germany lost the war because it defeated by stronger military power and it was also out of soldiers and ideas.
