Benjamin Franklin discovers electricity
Benjamin Franklins first test of electricity encounted a 12 metre kite which had a key on the end. Lightining then struck the key and electricity shot into a jar where it was stored. -
Boston Tea Party
The Boston tea party was a political protest against the British after the American citizens felt that they had no say in the government at the time. The Americans felt that the taxes the british had imposed were unfair towards North American Colonists. -
More efficient steam engine

First Fleet arives in Australia
The fleet left Great Britain in 1787 with 1044 passengers, 696 of which were convicts. The fleet was sent to New South Wales to start Europian colonisation in Australia. -

The French Revoloution first started in 1789 were the people challenged the National Assembly and the traditional aurthority of the French. Abolished Slavery
Denmark-Norway declares transatlantic slave trade illegal after 1803. This was the first colony to abolish slavery and make it illegal, this event was the first in a chain of evvents which lead to Abraham Lincon abolishing slavery in the United States in 1863 -
War starts between USA and Britain
This was known as the war of 1812, a brutal 32 month long battle between the British Empire and United States. The war was fought to resolve issues such as trades between the British and the French. 3,860 people died from the war and it was a big win for the United States as a very young country -
First passenger Railway
The worlds first passenger railway travelled between Manchester and Liverpool. This brought upon a new and more efficient mode of transport as it was much faster than a horse and cart. The Manchester- Liverpool railway is one of the most successful train lines in the world which still runs today. -
Eureka Stockade
This event which shaped Australias identity sstarted when the gold diggers opposed the government miners' licences. The licences were how the government taxed the diggers and they had to pay fees regardless of whether a digger had found any gold. The diggers then rebeled against the government. -
American Civil War
In 1861 the long divided North and South states of the United States went to war over the anti-slave veiws of the North. This war lasted for 4 years and over 620,000 people were killed from this event and the most off the Souths territory was destroyed. -
Invention of the telephone
The first working telephone was designed, built and then mass produced in the United States by Alexander Bell and Thomas Watson. The idea was first thought of as a speaking telegraph towards people could electronicaly speak. The invention was a huge success and still tops markets today with more technicaly advanced models such as iPhones and Samsungs. -
Invention of the lightbulb
Thomas Edison designed and built the first practical light bulb and this was a huge success as it was a lot more practical and efficient then a torch. This invention is still used today as a vital part of our lives that is involved as a household nessicity -
Statue of Liberaty is unveiled
The statue of Liberety is a large statue of a women holding up a torch which represents freedom. The statue was given as a gift to the United States from Fance for a truce offering between the two countries. The statue is of Librates, who is the godess of freedom and is symbolised as freedom icon across the world and a welcoming sign for immagrants arriving aboard -
Federation in Australia
On the 1st of January 1901 Australia finally become an independent country, the six Australian colonies gained the right to govern the newly found Commenwealth of Australia. The federations constitution is the most important document in Australian government history. It established the Commonwealth Government defined its structure, powers and defined the rights of citizens in relation to the Commonwealth. -
First powered Flight
The Wrights made the first sustained, controlled, powered manned flight in North Carolina on December 17, 1903. The first flight travelled 37 m in 12 seconds. Planes were quickly used as millatary service quickly after they were invented, which helped both sides during world war 1 -
Mass Production of Automobile
Hennry Ford was the first person to create an affordable, working automoobile that was mass produced all over the world. In 1908 Fords cars would come off the line in 15 minute intervals. The success of Fords buisness drove other manufactures broke as he ruled the market for many years before 1000's of car companys around the world adopted his methods. -
Titanic sinks
At the time the titanic was the largest passenger ship ever built. The Titanic sunk on its maiden voage after hitting and iceberg at sea. 1,502 of 2,224 people died and is a tragic pastime for all of the world. After it struck the iceberg, a series of holes formed below the water. The ships water compartments flooded. It soon became clear that the ship was going to sink. -
Russian Revoloution
A series of events in Russia in 1917 changed the dovernment status in Russia and led to the creation of the Russian SFSR. The Emperor was replaced by a provisional government during February 1917. The SFSR was Russia combining to form the developed reblic in the soveit union. -
World War 1 ends
World War 1 was a global war that took place in Europe. It was fought between two sides, the Allies (England, France, US, Australia, Russian Empire) and the Central Powers (Germany and Austria-Hungary). It lasted for four years after Germany agreed to an armistice on the 11th November 1918, that ended in victory for the Allies. Over 37 million died, making it the 6th deadlist conflict in human history.
