Vivekananda leaves the monastery
Vivekananda leaves the monastery to begin his life as a wandering monk. He teaches that all religions and therefore people are striving for the same goal, and therefore teaches peace. Simultaneously, he encourages people to fight for their freedom- sparking the strength in Indians to fight for independence. His teachings influence many Hindus for years to come, including Ghandi. -

India's tea exports to Great Britain reaching 137 million pounds. -
Muslim League
Muslim League political party is made in India, later plays a huge role in the Indian Independence Act of 1947. Muhammad Ali Jinnah joins the congress this same year, stressing that complete independence from Britain would strip India from the posistive British influences on education, law, culture and industry. -
Jallianwala Bagh Massacre
Massacre ordered by Brigadier Dyer. 379 are killed. Massacre convinces Gandhi that India must demand full independence from oppressive British Christian rule. Here there is only gain from a revolution, and no loss. Because lives are the cost of remaining under British rule. -
