Early Months of 1810
There were a lot of injustices and inequalities between the social pyramid of New Spain. Conspiracies started to rise up, however the Spanish crown did not see them as threatening. Meanwhile Josefa, Allende, Aldama, Hidalgo, Jimenez and other independence leaders were have “literature” meetings to plan the conspiracy. -

First stage of the independence war. Leader was Miguel Hidalgo. This stage goes from the discovernment of the conspiracy to the moment of the capture and execution of the independence leaders (Hidalgo, Aldama, Allende, Jiménez) -
Conspiracy is discovered
The conspiracy was discovered so, Miguel, Josefa’s husband went to the government to claim that the Gonzalez’s brothers had arms in their house, they raided their house and arrested them. After that, Josefa did everything possible to inform his neighbor that the conspiracy was discovered so he went to inform the other leaders about their problem. -
Grito de Dolores
In the early hours of the day, Miguel Hidalgo stood in front of a church with the estandarte of the Virgin of Guadalupe. He then proceeded to make the famous Grito de Dolores which represented the start of the independence war. -
Take of Alhondiga de Granaditas
The rebel forces of the independence movement entered into Guanajuato city. The legend of the pipila takes place where he burns down the door and leads the forces into the Alhondiga de Granaditas. The angry mob kills a lot of the citizens inside. -
Monte de las Cruces
The Battle of Monte de las Cruces. The battle was a day long and very intense where both of the sides had a lot of casualties. -
Hidalgo and Allende are captured
Spaniard army caught up with Hidalgo’s army. The Spaniard troops were very well organized and stronger which finished off in Hidalgo and Allende being taken hostage by the Spaniards, after that they were both tried and executed. -

Second stage of the independence war. Jose Maria Morelos was the leader during this time. The second stage starts from were he recruits and starts organizing his army until he is captured and executed. -

Hidalgo Executed
Hidalgo was executed and his head was sent to the Alhondiga de Granaditas. He was the last one to die and be tried because his high ranking as a priest. -
Jose Maria Morelos Captured
Jose María Morelos was captured, tried and executed. However, he advanced a lot in Hidalgo’s plan and captured more cities and territories to keep the war of independence running. -

Stage three of the independence war. The insurgents kept on resisting. Characters like Guadalupe Victoria and Vicente Guerrero are introduced. -

Fourth stage of the independence war. Guerrero and Iturbide join to create and take the Plan of Iguala to reality. They were protected and the Plan de Iguala was strictly enforced by the army of the three guarantees. -
Guerrero goes to Iturbide
Vicente’s forces came in to Iturbide’s power. He convinced by promulgating the Plan de Iguala that contained the famous and needed 3 guarantees. -
Independence is obtained
The independence war finishes with the army of the three guarantees and Iturbide’s and Guerrero’s forces entering Mexico City. -
RESISTANCE/CONSUMMATION
Agustin de Iturbide - General and politician that first fought of the insurgentes but then convinced them that he was on their side. He joined them and created the Plan de Iguala. First emperor of Mexico
Plan de Iguala - Plan created by Agustin de Iturbide which finally gave Mexico the long wanted independence. It had 3 guarantees. 1. Mexico was going to be a constitutional monarchy 2. Official religion would be Roman Catholicism 3. Creoles and Peninsulares would be equal and have the same right -
CONSOLIDATION
Jose Maria Morelos - Mestizo. A priest and the student of former leader Miguel Hidalgo. When his mentor died, he took the lead on the independence war and trained a small but organized army. He was also successful.
Congress of Chilpancingo - Meeting where the leaders of the movement declared themselves independent from Spain, later the official constitution was written. -
