This is the not the exact year of this event. However it is the correct year. The Emperor passed the Edict of Milan. It allowed Christians to practice their faith and it also protected them. They were fighting over Jerusalem, it held Holy significance to both religions. After Columbus discovered the new world in 1492 many Spanish explorers started exploring the New World in search of land (to Claim for Spain) and riches. The Renaissance was a time of forward progress in Europe, it dragged Europe out of the Dark and Middle Ages. People were looking into the sciences and math, art was huge and philosophy was very important. Exploration was also going on. This was also known as the Northern Renaissance, and the most famous person of the era was Martin Luther. He tried to get rid of corruption in the Church by challenging it. He posted the 95 Theses and sent a copy to a Bishop who forwarded it to the Pope. Martin Luther and many others challenged the church at this time including John Calvin who founded Calvinism. Charlemagne encourages conversion to Christianity
This was the year Charlemagne was crowned Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire by Pope Leo III in St. Peter’s Basilica. He unified Europe by having great military tactics and an iron will. He massacred many Saxons and forced them to convert to Christianity or they would be killed. He also treated took care of the Church and protectd the Popes. Charlemagne was so good at uniting Europe that people like Napoleon and Hitler were influenced by him.
