Europeans Travel to the Americas
From the Early 1400s to the late 1500s Europeans began traveling to the Americas. They had claimed land and established colonies such as Jamestown on the eastern edge of the Americas. This was later known as the 13 colonies and had begun to found America, making this an important event. -

The American Revolution
The first bullet fired of the Revolutionary war was on April 19, 1775, but within the 13 colonies, Americans wanted to be free. 12 out of 13 states sent representatives to stop the trading between the Americas and Great Britian. Eventually winning the long war, the U.S. gained freedom and became a country. This made America what it is today. -

Declaration of Independence Signed
The declaration of independence was signed on July 2nd declaring America a free country. It wasn't officially adopted until July 4th which is why we celebrate Independence Day on July 4th. The Civil War
Slavery was legal in the U.S. but many opposed it. When Abraham Lincoln was elected as president, he had wanted to ban slavery. The South/Confederate had still wanted slavery, and had seceded from the North/Union. The civil war had begun. Eventually the Union had won, and slavery was banned, and America was whole once again. If it were not for the war, the U.S. would be 2 seperate countries. -

America Joins WWII
World War 2 had begun in 1939 but America was not involved until December 7, 1941. Japanese fighter planes had bombed a military base in Hawaii. This was a huge loss for the U.S. so they joined WWII and defeated the Japanese. After the war was over the entire world benifited, the U.N. (United Nations) was created, spreading peace to prevent another war similar to this one.
