  • The Dead Rabbits Riot

    A gang (the dead rabbits) tried to invade the Bowery Boys clubhouse this caused a riot. Tammany Hall political organizer and gang associate Captain Isaiah Rynders tried unsuccessfully to negotiate a truce. The police tried to stop this riot but could not, and the local Malitia ended up stopping it.
  • The Ku Klux Klan is Established

    A secret Society called the Ku Klux Klan (KKK) was established on December 24th, 1865. They participate in performing terror acts against people of color.

    Ellis Island opens to process immigrants coming to the U.S. The reason Ellis Island was created was to process immigrants coming to the U.S. through the New York harbor, quarantine them if necessary(they had their own hospital), and occasionally people would get deported back to where they came from.

    The first fantasy book written by an American. It was an immediate major success.
  • Teddy Roosevelt Becomes President of the United States

    After the assassination of President McKinley Teddy Roosevelt became president. He would completely change what it means to be president he was the first president to be involved in mass media.
  • Ida Tarbell Publishes Her Article About Standard Oil

    November 1902 Ida Tarbell published her article about the Standard Oil Company and how much of an illegal monopoly it was and ordered it be broken into 34 separate companies.
  • Ford Motor Company is Founded

    Henry Ford had tried three other times to establish an automobile company, his first successful one was incorporated on June 16th, 1903 in Detroit Michigan.

    The 17th Amendment allows the people to cast direct votes for their senators.

    The Empire State Building was built 102 stories, the most prominent building ever made at the time.
