Long Parliment
The Long Parliament was set up after the Bishops War by King Charles I. It was dissolved after the English Civil War by agreement from the members within. In 1648, the members were reunited by George Monck to help allow the restoration of the monarchy. Image Source

English Civil War
Charles I invaded the Parliament and started the English Civil War. The Parliament and Charles I had a disagreement over the power of government and how much power the monarchy should’ve had. Commonwealth of England
Lead by Oliver Cromwell, the Commonwealth ruled after end of the second English civil war. The Commonwealth was a replacement of the English Monarchy. After Cromwell’s death, his son lead the commonwealth until the protectorate parliament was dissolved and the rump parliament was evoked. Because of this, the Monarchy was reestablished. Charles I Execution
In the English Civil War, Charles lost to the Parliament. After, he refused to give in to a constitutional monarchy. He was later executed for high treason and the monarchy was abolished. In turn, the Commonwealth of England was formed.

Glorious Revolution
The Glorious Revolution, brought on by the English Parliament, and led by William of Orange, was the overthrow of King James II. The Revolution led to William and Mary assumed James’ spot, and the drafting of the English Bill of Rights. English Bill of Rights
Presented by convention parliament to William and Mary, the English Bill of Rights states the limit of power the ruler has, rights the Parliament has, including freedom of speech within the Parliament. The Rights limit the power the monarch had in England during the time and became a step away from absolute monarchy, and towards constitutional monarchy.
