by Serb Assasin Gavrilo Princip from terror group "The Black Hand". Assasination without knowledge of the moderate Serbian Gouvernment.
Aimed at te policy to grant national groups in Bosnia Herzegowina more autonomy (strengthening Austria-Hungarys rule). Austria Hungary wanted to react to this, to end danger of independent Serbia.

It promised to return Mexican Land that was seized by the USA, if they were to join the war on Germanys side. The telegram was intercepted by the British and had a huge impact on american public opinion,
contributing to their entry into the war.

=> consessions:: constitution and duma (parliament) After joining ww1 army and economy collapse, obliterating the tsars authority.
Now (Feb 1917), mass demonstrations/strikes force the tsar to abdicate.
A preliminary gouvernment is formed from the duma, and worker/soldier/peasant soviets are formed as a check. Because the prelim. didnt want to touch property/land or the war, it lost popularity slowly...
