  • Nazi Party is Founded

    The Nazi Party used to be called the German Workers' Party, but Hitler changed it. Nazi was short for National Socialist German Workers' Party. They had three thousand members by the end of the year.
  • Hitler Became the Leader of the Nazi Party

    The Nazi Party committe attempted to knock Hitler down a peg, but realized he was much needed in the Nazi Party. They decided to let the party members vote wether or not they should follow Hitler's demands. When majority voted for, Hitler became the Fuhrer of the Nazi Party.
  • Hitler Appointed Chancellor

    Adolf Hitler was appointed chancellor of the German government. Many Germans had lost faith in their government, and Hitler gave them hope for the nation.
  • Hitler Becomes A Dictator

    Hitler made many false promises to the public in order to get the Enabling Act approved. His efforts succeeded, and Hitler put an end to democracy in Germany.
  • The Nuremberg Race Laws

    The Nuremberg Race Laws
    Nazis created new laws based off Nazi ideaology. These laws racially segregated Jews and took many of their civil rights away.
  • The "Night of Broken Glass"

    The "Night of Broken Glass"
    Major violence against the Jews broke out on Reich. It seemed to be set off by the German's anger over a Jewish teenager, who murdered a German official. Joseph Goebbels, a propaganda minister, and some Nazis organized this. In just two days, they laid waste to the Jews. This became known as the "night of Broken Glass", for the shattered glass from the windows blanketed the streets.
  • Germans Kill the Impaired

    Nazi's choose those who are "unworthy of life", and send them to gassing installations. They then kill these people by gassing them in chambers, using carbon monoxide.
  • The Wannsee Conference

    The Wannsee Conference
    Fifteen Nazi-party and German government leaders had a meeting at Berlin by Lake Wannsee. They held the meeting in order to discuss the "final solution to the Jewisk question in Europe."
  • Nazi Rule Comes to an End

    When his rule began to deteriorate, Adolf Hitler wrote his will and committed suicide the day after. Germany's surrender followed a week later, on May 8, 1945.
  • Anne Frank's Diary

    Anne Frank's diary was published and was one of the most memorable things from the Holocaust. It gives a look at what the Holocaust was really like, and how much the Jews suffered during the time.
