- this was the day when one of the world's grestest dictator was born.
- on the evening of April 20, 1889, he was born in the small Austrian village of Braunau Am Inn just across the border from German Bavaria. -
Death of hitler's father, Alois
Historical significance:
- it was one of the depressed day in hitler's life when his father Alois Hitler died.
- He collapsed before the wine was brought to him and died within minutes from a lung hemorrhage. It was not the first one he had suffered. -
Klara Hitler's Death
historical significance:
- Klara Hitler dies of cancer.
- The loss of his mother affects Hitler deeply and it is said that he has a photo of her in his pocket when he dies. -
Hitler moves to Vienna.
historical significance:
- At the age of 17, Hitler moves to Vienna.
- He plans to attend art school there but when he is rejected by the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts for the second time in October, he gives up on his dream. -

- He regains his sight but while he is recovering he is deeply depressed and spends much of his time crying. -

- Adolf hitler was introduced as Fuhrer og the Nazi Party, marking the the first time that title was used publicly to adress him.
Effect:
- this was the turning event in Hitler's life that bring the mass movement and ruled germany through totalitarian means from 1933 to 1945 under his leadership. -
Hitler is sentenced to five years in prison for treason and Mein Kampf
Casue and effect , historical significance
The Nazis unsuccessfully try to take over the German government and Hitler is sentenced to prison for five years for treason.
- while in prison he put energy into his book " Mein Kampf " ( My Struggles).
- this book was the turning point for Germany's future because in this Hitler wrote the future for Germany
- many year later in 1942 hitler said " Mein Kampf would never have written if I had not been send to prison. -
The Jewish Holocaust begins.
historical significance:
- The Nazis, led by Hitler, begin to systematically eliminate Jews from Eastern Europe.
- At least six million Jews will be killed, many in brutal concentration camps, before the Holocaust ends in 1945. -
Hitler becomes Germany's dictator.
historical significance:
- After being named chancellor of Germany in 1933, a presidential election is held in 1934 that Hitler easily wins, partially because he vows to fight communism.
- He is now firmly in power as dictator of Germany with the title of Fuhrer. -
Munich Agreement

Hitler signs the “Munich Agreement” with the leaders of England, France and Italy.
This act of so-called Allied “appeasement” paved the way for the German invasion of Czechoslovakia. -

- Due to his political dominance and being such as central figure in the world, Time magazine names Hitler as "Man of the Year."

- Hitler’s 50th birthday featuring the largest military parade in Third Reich history (about 50,000 troops took part.
