  • Hitler Joins the Nazis

    After the war Hitler moved into Munich and joined the National Socialist German Workers' Party (Nazis) who were a right-winged political group that wanted the punishments on Germany Causes by the Treaty of Versailles to be reversed. He became a well know figure in the party, and he rose through the ranks to when he was chosen to be the Fuhrer, or leader, of the party.

    Attempt to Seize Control in Munich and His Time in Prison

    The Nazi Party, lead by Hitler, attempted to take control of the government in Munich. The attempt failed and Hitler was sentenced to prison for treason. While Hitler was in jail he wrote his book the Mein Kampf, which described his goals for a future Germany, as well as stating which races he thought were superior and which he thought were inferior. He also wrote how he thought Germany was overpopulated. He go out of prison in under 9 months
  • Nazis Presence in German Politics

    The Nazi party became the largest political party in Germany. This allowed Hitler to become more involved and recognized in German Politics
  • Hitler is Appointed Chancellor

    Germany's former President, Paul von Hidenburg, chose Hitler to become Chancellor. This gave Hitler legal power in Germany
  • Reich-stag Fire

    Six days before elections created by Hitler, the Reichstag building was burnt down. The building was the building were the German parliament met. Hitler blamed the communist for starting the fire and this caused many people to fear the communist party. This caused the Nazi party to win the elections.

    Hitler turned Germany into a totalitarian state. With his new powers he banned all other political parties and arresting people who opposed his new rule.

    Hitler's Police

    In 1934 Hitler created a police squad called the SS. They were only loyal to Hitler. They were sent to arrest and or kill political enemies of Hitler. They sent a fear to the German people who became very obedient to Hitler.
  • Nuremberg Laws

    Hitler and the Nazi regime passed laws that highly discriminated against Jewish people. Jewish owned stores were boycotted, books by Jewish authors were burned, and Jewish people had their rights stripped from them.
  • Kristallnacht

    On the night of November 9th Jewish stores all around Germany were vandalized by the SS and other German Citizens loyal to Hitler. The night became know for the vast amounts of broken glass from the destroyed stores of Jewish citizens. Other Jewish owned facilities were destroyed as well.
